DuPage Narcan Program

The DuPage Narcan Program (DNP) has a single mission: Save Lives.

The DNP increases the number of first responders and community members trained to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose, and increases their access to naloxone (brand name Narcan). Since its inception in 2013, the DNP has recorded over 1000 overdose reversals. The DNP is a collaborative effort among the DuPage County Coroner, Sheriff, State’s Attorney, Chiefs of Police, and Health Department.

Program Goals

• Deliver opioid overdose training and naloxone to members of the community
• Increase awareness of the Illinois Helpline for Opioids and Other Substances (1-833-2FINDHELP) to seek treatment of substance use disorder
• Increase the number of first responders trained to recognize, and respond to, an opioid overdose
• Offer training and naloxone for those at-risk to an opioid overdose
• Promote the use of RxBOX as a drug take-back program
• Provide first-responders improved access to naloxone
